5 Elements Best Feng Shui Tips for March 2012

5 Elements Interactions

5 Elements Cycle March graphicWhen giving 5 Elements best Feng Shui tips for a particular month I generally look at the Latter Heaven Sequence, together with its interactions with the year and month elements

To give you some kind of picture to work with, it’s like I stand in a field looking around, taking in the beauty of the surroundings (latter heaven sequence).  After a while, I’m joined by someone I grew up with (elements of the year).  Obviously, we’ll interact – chatting, eating, building stuff.  You know how it is with families.

Like with you, some members of my family are more welcome than others!

Then a third person will turn up and the dynamic changes again (month elements).  Sometimes three’s a crowd and sometimes three is just what you need.

I’m basing these monthly tips on the interaction of these three people (5 elements) in each of the directions .

Please bear in mind that by trying out these tips in your own home, you are taking full responsibility for your own wellbeing.  Your house is not a field.  When dealing with any home or office, the interactions are far more complex than those outlined here.

That said, let’s move on.

5 Elements Overview

This month, the interactions with these three forms (people) are intrinsically unbalanced – this orientation is known as “the String of Pearls”.  Some say this orientation is lucky, some say not.  In this month of March 2012, the interactions are, honestly, not great.

The good news is that I’ll be giving suggestions below so you can reduce the impact of the not so great and increase the impact of the good stuff.

Let’s have the bad news first

The orientation of the monthly 5 Elements chi is filled with potential conflict.

The Emperor is invading the West and Northwest this month and bringing his army of swordsmen with him.   I love the imagery of Chinese metaphysics, don’t you?

The good news is that the Emperor responds well to bribes of gold.  So, this month, I suggest that in the West and Northwest  you place gold in all its many varieties – vases of gold flowers, gold coloured coins, gold cushions, whatever gold things you happen to have about the place – put them in the West and Northwest in a pleasing and harmonious formation.  The Emperor should be treated with respect.

In the East and Southeast, the mother is feeling agitated.  As everyone knows, when the mother is off balance, so is everyone else.  This orientation can affect the oldest female in any group particularly, if there is no mother, so it’s important to balance it and bring it back into harmony.

If you happen to have large crystals (Earth Element) this month the place to put them is in the East and Southeast to balance the Wood element energy that so agitates the mother.  A tiny touch of red (Fire Element) will also help support her.  Don’t go overboard with the red, a touch is all that’s needed.

Moving to the Southwest, the mother is still unable to get any peace.  A bowl of still water with a few round coins in it will be welcome here.

On to the good news

In the North and South, young people are particularly favoured this month.   Romance is in the air for the youngest female available and success in work and business are highlighted.

Red and gold flowers in pots in the North and South portions of your home support happy events, steady progress and success this month.  Make sure you keep them well watered!

About The Chakra and Meridian Systems

The Meridian and Chakra models are based on two different world views. 5 Element Theory, of which Meridians form a part, arose in the Far Eastern areas around the Pacific – China and Japan have codified versions, although Korea and the other Pacific Rim countries also share similar world views – whereas the Chakra model comes from the Indian subcontinent. The two world views are very different.
What they have in common is that they are both interpretations of the way that energy travels around the body/mind/spirit system and both are, among other things, models that attempt to explain the connection between lifestyle and health. This is not to say that either refer simply to physical health. They also refer to spiritual health, general wellbeing and psychological health.
Ayurvedic medicine is based on the Chakra system. This model posits that there are three major “Doshas” – Vata, Pitta and Kapha – and that these Doshas are indicators of particular strengths and weaknesses of the mind/body/spirit system. Like the Chinese 5 Elements, the Ayurvedic approach emphasises balance between the Doshas for good mental, physical and spiritual health. The Ayurvedic approach also encompasses the concept that our homes reflect where we are in life (Vaastu), just as Feng Shui does in the Chinese 5 Elements.

Chakras and Meridians: The Differences

The meridians of the Chinese 5 Elements are named for the major organs of the body, whereas the Chakras are named for major life transitions. The meridians travel around the body, flowing one into the other, reflecting the cycles of the day, month, seasons and the great cycles of Chinese eras. The Chakras, on the other hand, are more like spinning vortices, like the pictures you see of galaxies or magnetic fields. As we move through life from childhood to old age, we learn the lessons of each Chakra in turn – you can find out more about this by doing a google search or you might find “Anatomy of the Spirit” by Caroline Myss useful for a more in depth examination.

Chakras and Meridians: The Best Approach

Both Chakras and Meridians are the best approaches, depending on your knowledge, skill and understanding. Donna Eden suggests they are two different levels among many of the human energy system. They are certainly two different understandings of the way the human system works, both equally valid. The choice really boils down to what you want to do. From my point of view, the meridians of the Chinese 5 Elements is more accessible – but I have been studying this for over 20 years!
